I’m Kenneth Watterworth

About me

Over 40 years as a business owner, I have seen many changes in the way people interact with companies. After graduating from college in 1977, I started my first business. I have always loved the challenge of creating a product or service that solves problems for customers. Trust is the key to building customer relationships.

My college major was in Business Administration and Finance. I was fascinated by the challenges of managing multiple personalities and allowing everyone to contribute equally. Early on, I realized that each member of the team had a special skill to offer. It doesn’t matter if it is problem-solving or people skills, understanding what each member of your team is good at early on will allow the company to achieve its full potential. Boston College gave me valuable experience in team-building that I have carried into my career.

After graduating, I started my first company, Ken Watterworth Inc. Our business specialized in painting. The company quickly grew and was awarded large commercial painting contracts in Waterbury and the surrounding area. Pro-Tect Inc was established in 1991 as a fireproofing company for steel buildings. Multiple contracts were awarded to us for new construction projects in the state.

Today, my focus is on Pro-Tect, Inc., and I am proud to say that we are now the largest fireproofing company in Connecticut. We are proud to be both competitive in our industry and provide quality work for customers.
